Classroom Rules And Regulations

What is a good classroom management?

Assalamualaikum and good evening. This last topic in pedagogy. I'm so sad but at the same time I'm happy because can free up all topics.

And there some steps to ensure that the classroom is well organized:

  • A set of class rules posted in the classroom. For example students want to go to toilet...there are rules to follow.
  • Arranges the classroom carefully to minimize disturbances and provide students with a sense of confidence.
  • Teachers has to know the names of all the students in the class.

Why is a good classroom management important?

1) Effective Teaching

- know the expectations in different types of learning situations. For example, kids would know that when working in small groups, they talk in quiet voices and take turns talking. They might each have a specific job within the group.

2Efficient Use of Time

Taking time before school starts to create routines and procedures saves you time in the long run. When the children know what to do, it becomes a natural part of the routine. After a few weeks, you don't need to tell them what to do.

3) Consistency

Your students may fare better when you're gone if you have set expectations for everyday tasks. They know how the classroom runs so they are able to help the substitute run the classroom. For example, if the kids know they're supposed to enter the room and start working on a math problem on the board, a substitute doesn't have to spend his time corralling the kids or trying to keep them occupied while everyone arrives. You can also create consistency throughout the school by aligning your management strategies with the schoolwide standards.

Classroom management and learning environment ( Learning Environment)

Last week, my lecture, Encik Yusuff discuss how to manage an effective classroom management. And my lecture continue discuss

Strategies to Keep Students Learning in a Calm

Classroom Environment.

There are 5 strategies :

1) When you have stood by the student, talked to the student and kept them busy with lessons, and they still are disruptive, take them in the hallway. Ask them, “Are you OK?" It has been my experience that they crumble and tell you that they had a fight with their parents, didn’t get up on time or are having other issues. If they are defiant, send them on to the principal.

2) When students are being disruptive by talking, poking, pulling or crumpling paper, go stand by them. This works best with boys. I have taught from the back of the room by the orneriest boys. This sends them a direct message to stop what they are doing. Most of the time they stop and get back to work.

3) Talk to your students. If you see them in the hall, in the cafeteria or at the grocery store, ask them how they are. If you see a student in the local newspaper, congratulate them. If they do something nice, tell them that you appreciate their kindness. This lets them know that you really do care about them.

4) Don’t lecture for the whole period. Students who are actively engaged in a learning activity are generally not disrupting the class. Hands-on activities work great for vivacious classrooms.

5) Keep the lesson moving. If you have a forty-five minute period, plan three different activities. Try to get them up out of their seats at least once during the class period. Those students with pent up energy will thank you for it.

Classroom Management and Learning Environment ( Classroom management)

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

" classroom management is the provision and procedures necessary to create and maintain an environment in which teaching and learning can occur"

" children now love luxury, they have bad manners, dislike for authority, and they love chatter in the place of exercise. children are now tyrants, not the servants of households".

Classroom Management Applies to All.

  • Effective classroom start in time
  • Students know the classroom procedures
  • Teachers understand how to teach for mastery
  • Teachers have high expectation for students success.

Developing classroom rules

1) Material
  • chalkboard
  • chart paper
  • marker

2) Method
  • Gather the students around the chalkboard and tell them that you want them to describe all the ways what they can think of to wreck their classroom
  • When finished, discuss what type of a classroom it would be if all of their ideas actually happened.
  • From there, talk about what kind of rules they can create so that none of these ideas would be allowed to happen in their classroom.

Characteristics of an Effective Classroom

1) Behavioral expectations are clear.

Clear and concise classroom rules and discipline plans should be posted in the room. Students should understand exactly what the consequences are for misbehavior.

2) Assignment and assessment expectations are clear.

Students need to understand their teacher's expectations for both school work and classroom behaviorAssignments that are often repeated, like book reports, should have a standard rubric that students understand. Finally, grading should be completed quickly so that students have feedback from which they can review for quizzes and exams.

3) Students are engaged.

Teachers who are able to have students involved and working have the best chance of success. One way to accomplish this is to help your students become more involved in decision making for their own educational experience. For example, have students help create the rubric for a large assignment with your guidance. Another way to give students more control is by giving them choice when they are completing assignments.

4) Learning is student-centered.

In a classroom where the teacher does little more than stand in front of the class and talk, there is a much greater chance of losing student interest. Lessons should be developed with the students, their interests, and abilities in mind.

5) Instruction is varied.

- A mix of learning activities like whole group discussions, teacher-led discussions, and role playing exercises can help keep students involved in the curriculum while meeting the needs of those with different learning styles.

Writing Lesson Plan Goals, Objectives and Strategies( Parts of a lesson plan)

Parts of A Lesson Plan

In class, our lecture show me example lesson plan for subject English. And I refer from that to make my assignment. And it is my first time I do lesson plan. Below parts of a lesson plan :

A) OBJECTIVES

  • promote a range of levels of understanding (low and high) within each domain.
  • be written specifically each students must know and be able to do.
  • be achieved by your students.

B) RESOURCES

  • it denotes which resources you and the learners will use in order to accomplish the specific instructional objectives.
  • This material such as books or journal.

C) SET INDUCTION
  • Set induction are terms used to indicate the need to start the lesson by capturing learners attention or interest.
  • The teacher ask student what they will learn today.

      4 purposes
  • focusing attention on what is to be learned by gaining students'' interest.
  • transition from old to new materials - relating back to previous learning.
  • to provide a structure for the lesson - telling them what is expected.
  • to give meaning to a new concept or principle - for instance by giving ex.

for example : rates of reaction.

D) METHOD OF DEVELOPMENT.

  • how will teaching and learning proceed? This is a description of stages how teaching and learning takes place
  • can choose using discovery learning or cooperative learning.

E) ASSESSMENT

  • A review specifically measuring whether or not the objectives were reached that shows a direct correlation between objectives and assessments

F) CLOSURE

  • A reflection of the anticipatory set read aloud to students.
  • Normally, it takes in a form of review that get students to summarize what they have learned and connect it to prior and future lessons.
  • And teacher will recall what they have learnt and give homework.

Writting Lesson Plan Goals, Objectives and Strategies. (Lesson Plan)

In the class, we had learned about lesson plan. Each part of lesson plan was needed to be planned and organized well for each subject and grade level.

This is example for lesson plan for elementary school.

How to develop lesson goals and objectives?

GOAL

- determine purpose, aim, and rationale for what you and your students will engage in during class time.

OBJECTIVES

- focuses on what your students will do to acquire further knowledge and skills.

LESSON PLAN

1- Prerequisites.
- can be useful when considering the readiness state of your student.
- the teacher make sure that students can meet the lesson objectives.

2- Materials.
- have 2 functions and it helps other teachers quickly.

a) how much preparation time, resources, and management
b) what material, books, equipment and resources they will need to have ready.

  • What materials will be needed?
  • What textbooks or story books are needed?

3- Lesson Description.
- provides an opportunity for the author of the lesson to share some thoughts, experience, and advice with other teachers.

4- Lesson Procedure.
-divide into several components:

  • introduction
  • main activity
  • closure
  • follow up lesson
5- Assessment and Evaluation
- focuses on ensuring that our students have arrived at their intended destination
-to gather some evidence that they did.
